Brian O’Driscoll disappointed with second test loss – Rugby News Update
Brian O’Driscoll, the 33-year-old Ireland captain was left to rue the last minute loss to New Zealand in the second-test of a three match series.
Ireland is currently touring the southern hemisphere country for a three-match test series, with the All Blacks winning the first comfortably.
However, it seems that the All Blacks got out of jail in the second-test when it looked likely that Ireland would take the game, and it will be all to play for in the last test.
"I'm gutted all right," O'Driscoll told Sky Sports 2. "We got back on level terms and to concede the way we did is disappointing. Our performance was massively improved from last week and I'm very proud of the lads."
"We let ourselves down in the first Test and we spoke about that, we spoke about the jersey and concentrating on our own game, but the scoreline still says an All Blacks win which is difficult to take considering the effort we put in."
Having lost the first test 42-10 Ireland really needed a solid performance, and they got that but lost 22-19 in the 79th minute.
The game started in the best possible way for the Irish with Conor Murray scoring a try in the 9th minute, and Jonathan Sexton converting the conversion to give the visitors a 7point lead in the 10th minute. Ireland extended the lead
to 10points by the 18th minute.
Dan Carter replied back for the home team, and converted three penalties before half-time to leave the game on a knife’s edge. The score at half-time was 9-10.
Right after the break, Aaron Smith scored a try and a subsequent conversion by Carter gave the All Blacks a 16-10 lead, which they would extend to 19 by the 61st minute but not before Sexton scored another penalty for the Irish. The match was
evenly poised at 19 – 19 by the 68th minute, as Sexton brought his team back with two penalties.

At that moment it seemed like the visiting team would take the game home and achieve an unprecedented victory but their hopes were dashed in the 79th minute, as Carter once again scored a penalty, to leave the score 22-19 at fulltime.
