Brian O’Driscoll signs up with Leinster for two years
Brian O’Driscoll, the Ireland international has extended his contract with Leinster for two years.
This action strongly proves that he wants to pursue with international rugby even after the World Cup in New Zealand. The Irish centre who has played six tests for British and Irish Lions and earned 107 Ireland caps, has formerly discharged the perception
of retiring from international rugby to play for his club. He believes that if a player is playing at professional level, then he should always be available for his country.
The rapacious French clubs and their affluent backers have been staved off. Alongside Brian O’Driscoll signing, Jamie Heaslip and Jonathan Sexton have signed contracts with IRFU as well. For Leinster it is a triple time booster and for Ireland it is even
better news, as their three main players will be available all around the year till 2013.
Unlike O’Driscoll, Heaslip has signed for 3 years until 2014 season, while both Sexton and O’Driscoll have signed for two years with Leinster. Heaslip has been on the wish list of every European club and has been offered quite frequently.
On the other hand O’Driscoll was always expected to stay and it didn’t take much effort from Leinster administration on the negotiations. There were dragged negotiations between the union and Fintan Drury for the signing of Heaslip and Sexton. Fintan Drury
is officially the agent to both the players.
Brian Gerald O’Driscoll is an Irish rugby union player, who is currently the international team’s captain and has also captained Leinster rugby. He has been a skipper to British and Irish Lions in New Zealand tour in 2005. He has been playing as an outside
centre all his career and has honour of scoring the most European Cup tries. He is 9th on the list of highest try scorer in the history of rugby union. At a position like centre he has proved to be the best and happens to be the highest scoring centre of all
time. He is nicknamed as BOD, The Dricmeister, Drico and General Mon in the world of rugby.
The 5 ft 10 in outside centre has been awarded as World Rugby player of the decade last year and has been nominated for IRB World Player of the year three times including 2001, 2002 and 2009. He has given consistent performance in all the Six Nations tournaments
and has been chosen ads Player of the tournament thrice, including 2006, 2007 and 2009.
A legend has been signed by Leinster yet again and after the end of negotiations it has been reported that O’Driscoll has been lured by the French club with a 1.1 million Euro contract. This is not the only reason for the trio to stay at the club; the reason
is loyalty and good reputation of Leinster.
Leinster has so far given good results in all the tournaments and are hot favourites in this season too. With the signing of O’Driscoll and the two others, the club will get encouragement and see itself progressing in the coming years.
