Brian Rose steps down as Somerset director – Cricket News Update
In the aftermath of their defeat in the Friend’s Life T20, Brian Rose, the Somerset director of cricket, has decided to step down from his role after an eight-year stint with the county.

to Division One but recent years have been clouded by their inability to perform in major finals.
The team has been runners up on five occasions since 2005, losing three T20 finals in a row and the Clydesdale Bank 40 heartache last year, where they were beaten by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Surrey-c851. In addition to that, the county side made it to the last four of the Champions League
T20 before another below-par performance in this year’s Friends Life finals day saw them being beaten by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hampshire-c789, ultimately forcing Rose to consider his position with the club.
The 62-year-old however, is expected to assist the county in an unspecified capacity from next summer.
"After the result at the SWALEC Stadium and another defeat on Finals Day, I have come to the conclusion that a new and fresh approach is needed at first-team level," said Rose. "I will continue to try to assist the club in meeting its core objective of winning
trophies.
"The success of the club off the pitch – and the real financial strength it has achieved – has been remarkable. It has allowed greater investment in the development of our cricket structure, in tandem with the wonderful transformation of the County Ground,
making it one of the most atmospheric stadiums in which to play cricket.”   
As a player, Rose achieved http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jason-Neil-Gillespie-c66461 heights with the club, helping them achieve five trophies from 1979 and 1983 before coming back in the early 2000s as their director. As an international player, he managed to play in 9 Tests matches since making his debut

Somerset is currently fifth in Division One, playing in the season’s second-last game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sussex-c852.
