Brian Shaw and
Quin Snyder: Charlotte Bobcats set to interview two more coaches – NBA News
The Charlotte Bobcats, the team that finished this season with the worst record in NBA history, is on the hunt for a new head coach.
Michael Jordan’s team seems to be finding difficulty in finding the right man for the job, as they have already interviewed 8 possible candidates and now, ESPN’s Chris Broussard reports that they will be interviewing Indiana Pacers
assistant coach Brian Shaw and Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Quin Snyder as well.
Shaw was the assistant coach to Phil Jackson for seven years with the Los Angeles Lakers and is the bright prospect to land a head coach job soon. After Phil Jackson retired from the Lakers, he was the favourite to get the head
coach job but the Lakers picked Mike Brown. Shaw is now an assistant coach to Frank Vogel with the Indiana Pacers.
Quin Snyder was the head coach of the University of Missouri from 1999-2006. He led the college team to four NCAA tournament berths in four consecutive years. He was also assistant coach with the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2010-2011
season and moved to the Los Angeles Lakers as Assistant coach to Mike Brown this season.
Charlotte finished with a dismal 7-59 record this season, the worst win-loss record by any team in NBA history. They fired head coach Paul Silas after the season, adding to their long list of issues to address before the next season
starts. They have already interviewed 8 probable coaches for the job. They are Jerry Sloan, Patrick Ewing, Nate McMillan, Dave Joerger, Mike Malone, Nate Tibbetts, Mike Dunlap, and Stephen Silas, who is the son of Paul Silas, the former coach the Bobcats just
fired.
The NBA Draft lottery is scheduled to take place this Wednesday, and the Bobcats are the favourites to land the number 1 pick after finishing with the worst record this season. The number 1 pick could guarantee them Kentucky forward
Anthony Davis, who has been tipped to be the number 1 draft pick in this year’s NBA Draft. Davis led Kentucky to the NCAA championship and has a list of awards and trophies that he has won this past season.
The Bobcats could start a new era by building the team around Davis, if he is indeed drafted by them.
