Brian Vera warns Andy Lee to get ready ahead of their Martinez-Barker undercard fight – Boxing news
The 29-year-old American pugilist Brian Vera has warned the Irish Middleweight contender Andy Lee to get ready ahead of their fight on October 1, 2011.
Both Brian Vera and Andy ‘Irish’ Lee will take on each other on the undercard of the Sergio Martinez vs. Darren Barker fight in October at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
This will be Vera and Lee’s second fight as Vera shocked the world in 2008 by knocking out the undefeated Lee in the seventh round. It has been Lee’s only defeat and now he has a chance to avenge his defeat.
Therefore, Vera knows his bout with Lee is going to an explosive co-main event on the fight night which a lot of people would want to see.
The super middleweight contender Vera told the media he has 10 weeks to prepare for the fight and he is already going ahead of his schedule. Vera also claimed he will be in the best shape of his life when he steps in the ring with Lee.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “It's going to be in Atlantic City on October 1st. We will be the co-main event of the Martinez/Barker card...We got 10 weeks to work and get ready to beat Andy, so expect me to look the best that I have ever looked
mentally and physically.”
In the end Vera, who has won 18 of his 23 professional fights including 11 by the way of knockout, admitted he knows Lee believes he is far superior to him in all departments but on the same note he declared he will once again shrug him off.
“I feel like I'm stronger than Andy Lee, but of course he thinks he's more technical and more skilled, so we are going to work on a couple of things to throw him off. We're still going to be strong and if we have to be nasty, we're going to be nasty,” he
said.
