Brian Via snares Men’s 800m freestyle gold – USA Swimming Sectionals, Greensboro
Brian Via of Silver Bullet EL snared gold medal of the Men’s 800m freestyle on foremost day of the 2012 USA Swimming Sectionals in Greensboro on Thursday, July 12.
The 20-year-old Via smothered efforts of his challengers in the sixteen-lap freestyle event as he cruised his way towards the medal rostrum for gold medal.
He continued his nerve-wrecking pace throughout the discipline and tapped the finishing end for gold medal with the timing of 8 minutes and 26.18 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Jake Schultz of Lakeside-KY, who remained 1.99 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing blockade as second position holder with an effort of 8 minutes and 28.17 seconds.
The silver medallist was chased by Michael Kenny of DYNA-GA, who stayed almost six seconds apart and paved his way to the victory stand for bronze medal by clocking an effort of 8 minutes and 34.17 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Pierce Bradshaw of NSS-NC, who stayed 1.14 seconds behind and finished his race with the timing of 8 minutes and 35.31 seconds.
The 16-year-old Bradshaw was chased by Ethan Curl of Bluegrass Marlin, who remained almost three body lengths apart and submitted a time of 8 minutes and 38.03 seconds for fifth position.
Sixth position of the event was occupied by Travis Morrin of MPSC-SC, who remained 0.53 seconds apart and emerged on the wall with an effort of 8 minutes and 38.56 seconds.
Subsequently, Morrin was followed by Hunte Brakovec of NSS-NC, who remained 1.06 seconds away from his former finisher and settled on the finishing end as seventh position holder by producing an effort of 8 minutes and 39.62 seconds.
The 15-year-old Brakovec was chased by James Koval of MPSC-SC, who stayed just one stroke away from overwhelming his former finisher. Koval remained only 0.16 seconds slower and hit the wall with the timing of 8 minutes and 39.78 seconds for eighth position.
Furthermore, Via was elated with his unbeatable form in the 800m discipline while the championship will continue for three consecutive days and will conclude on July 15.
