I just did a fantasy draft on ESPN.com and I had the second pick and of course L.T. was gone so adrian peterson was there and I decided to go with Brian Westbrook instead because i have a feeling he is going to split carries again and he is injury prone. was this a stupid move?

  1. You did alright. I would have picked AP, but Brian Westbrook is good too. He's about 90 percent of their offense, and he gets a lot of recieving TDs as well as rushing TDs. He's probably more consistant than AP too. You never know when he'll get hurt. :P It wasn't an idiotic move, and it has a bit of a reach to it, but that's what makes fantasy football fun. It's all about the risk, baby! Have fun this year, and I hope you kick butt. :)

  2. Not stupid.

Your reasoning is sound. In point per reception leagues (PPR), Westbrook grades out higher, usually #2 behind LT.

Pass catching backs are hard to get, and as you mentioned Peterson is in a plattoon or "timeshare."

They both have troubling injury pasts, so there's no advantage to be considered there.

In most leagues, regardless of settings Peterson's Average Draft Position (ADP) is 2, and Westbrook's is 3.

That's not a stretch to take him.

AP is electric and he's considered a "s**y" pick, but that doesn't mean he's better, more durable, or will be significantly better than Westbrook, or Joseph Addai for that matter.

So, not a stupid move.  Using your gut instinct often works.

  3. it was an "alright" pick not a big reach, better hope AP doesn't run wild in fantasy against you

  4. way to go Forrest Gump.

perhaps you can explain your brain f**t on recently hitting your head or to much  drink the night before your draft.

no wait grandma had saying that fit's this perfect.

"the lord blesses fool's and idiot's and there are those amoung us that are doubly blessed"

ok ok i busted your chops enough. i would have went AP over Westbrook but you could have done much, much worse.

besides if you team is that weak that it all falls upon the difference between AP and Westbrook

    you have much bigger concerns.

    good luck.

  5. Peterson is a stud, but Westbrook is a gem.  Do not let him go at all.  He had over a thousand rushing yards, but he is also the teams leading receiver.  He had over 700 receiving yards as well not to mention he gets a lot of touches both rushing and receiving.  With Chester Taylor around, AP isn't going to get the carries he really deserves to get for a few years.  LT off the board, I think you did the right thing.  Don't trade him for anything.

  6. It isn't what I would have done, but that doesn't make it a dumb move. Westbrook is a reasonable top 5 pick. You have to go with your own evaluation. You don't need validation from anyone else and you shouldn't second guess yourself - what's done is done.
