Brian Wilson’s chances of making it to full fitness before Opening Day bleak – MLB Update

The crowd will not be happy to hear the news coming out of San Francisco, as the Giants have the hard task to assemble the full team for the upcoming 2011 Major League Baseball season. The club has a big predicament on their cards and it appears to be in
the form of Brian Wilson’s oblique muscle problem. The rehabilitation seems far from complete and it may be less of a chance to see him play on Opening Day.
Wilson was scheduled to close against the Los Angeles Dodgers at the Dodgers Stadium but that assessment seems far from real. Manager Bruce Bochy declared the run down estimate on the closer’s recovery picture. To him, the scenario looks grim for Thursday.

"I'll be honest - I think it's less than 50-50," Bochy said. "But we're not going to rule him out completely."
The problem could continue to show up on the charts as Wilson might have to stay out of action for another 10 days before he can come back to the side. The earliest the club can activate him is estimated to be on the fifth of April. Left-hander Jeremy Affeldt
was able to comment on the situation recently. He talked about the closer’s unique quality.
"Wilson's the calibre of closer that it's a little bit of a kidney shot when he goes down," Affeldt said. "Whoever's closing that night is just filling in. You're never going to replace him."
Bouchy is a thinker who usually gets things right in strategy. If one knows better, the skipper must be hard at work for a good solution. It is believed there are options in the bullpen and he may not have to be perplexed over the problem.
"But I'm not prepared to announce which way we're going to go," Bochy added.
Javier Lopez, Santiago Casilla, Affeldt and Sergio Romo are all notable candidates on the forum. The Giants will have to make do with them until the time they can deal with Wilson’s injury concern.
