Briana Jurries pockets Women’s 200m IM gold: Day four – 2012 Arizona Invitational
Briana Jurries of Gmsc-AZ pocketed gold medal of the Women’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on final day of the 2012 Arizona Invitational in Mesa, Arizona on Monday, May 28.
The 17-year-old Jurries dictated terms to her opponents and tapped the finishing end for gold medal. With her phenomenal efforts, she remained comfortably ahead of her challengers and tapped the finishing wall for gold medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 23.64 seconds.
The champion was followed by Olivia K Barker of SAND-CA, who stayed almost 0.60 seconds apart and tapped the finishing wall for silver medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 24.27 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Brianna R Francis of DRAT-UT, who stayed nearly 0.60 seconds apart and hit the wall for bronze medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 24.83 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Hannah J Holman of PSC-AZ, who stayed nearly 1.20 seconds slower and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 26.01 seconds.
Holman was chased by Jordan M Ehly of UNWIL-NM, who was 0.13 seconds apart and finished fifth in the discipline with an effort of 2 minutes and 26.14 seconds.
Next was the equivalent event in Men’s category, where Hannon M Daigler of SAND-CA stifled hopes of his challengers by snaring gold medal of the event.
The 19-year-old Daigler stayed considerably faster from his fellow swimmers and posted a time of 2 minutes and 11.35 seconds.
Second position of the event was obtained by Derek G Knittle of GMSC-AZ, who was nearly 1.60 seconds apart and finished his swim with the timing of 2 minutes and 12.91 seconds.
Knittle remained almost three seconds ahead of Michael J White of UNGOL-AZ, who proved his eligibility for bronze medal of the event with the timing of 2 minutes and 15.58 seconds.
Third position holder was chased by Jose R De Jesus of EPAP-BD, who remained nearly two body lengths apart and ended his swim with the timing of 2 minutes and 17.49 seconds.
Furthermore, the position holders received medals after the completion of the championship.
