I am having a small wedding, with about 30 people. The bridal dresses are either formal and nice or informal and cheap looking. I've been looking for a dress for the occasion and found one that I love. Its a nice formal dress. On one hand I love to have the dress and wear it on my wedding day and on the other hand I'm thinking it might not be appropriate and maybe too fansy for a small gathering. What would you do?

  1. No dress can ever be too fancy for a wedding, regardless of size!  Buy it, wear it, and enjoy it!

  2. If u found a dress that u love then thats it ...... no other one will compare to it.

  3. You might be interested in Alvina Valenta. Here's her site:

(on the right are more collections)

  4. Hey honey its your special day, if you want the fancy dress GO FOR IT! Who cares if its not appropriate, its your wedding so what you say goes. Congratulations!

  5. Alfred Angelo has a collection of bridal gowns that I think are supposed to cater to the destination wedding trend, but they'd look lovely for an at-home wedding as well.  They're pretty but not overly ornate or formal. Plus they're more affordable.

  6. Wear the dress you feel beautiful in-after all, it's your wedding day!  Small doesn't mean you can't still feel as gorgeous as only a bride on her wedding day can-go for it!

  7. I would definitely wear the dress. You are the bride - it won't look to fancy. As long as you feel absolutely beautiful in the gown then that is all that matters. I say wear it - you might regret not wearing it in the long run.

    Good luck and congrats!

  8. It's your daybride to be small or big, Live it up make the best of it this will be your one and only wedding hopefully!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  9. I found bridalonlinestore.com they have excellent dresses and very affordable. I ordered mine from them. My best friend ordered hers from them. You can find elegant informal dresses...if you don't like the small 'train' then just have alterations to hem even all the way around.

this is a very simple and beautiful dress. Good Luck!

  10. You'll regret it if you don't get the dress you love.  The great thing about getting married is that it's impossible to be overdressed.  Congratulations.  :)

  11. Defiantly wear the dress you want! I just got married and decided to get a very nice dress that wasn't' the one because my wedding was outside and I only got to wear it once. but you know I still wish I had gotten the dress I wanted. mine was beautiful and nobody knew that I was disappointed with it. but the dress is really all about the day that is truly about you! you give everything else away or eat it your bridesmaids keep their stuff and you toss your bouquet.  all wedding dresses are pretty. and your guests really don't care which one you have (so long as it doesn't stick out because it's black or something) you are wearing it and you are paying for it so you should feel like a million bucks in it! don't look back on your wedding day and say It was perfect except I wish I had that dress. you get married once so do it exactly the way you want to do it!

  12. Small does not have to mean informal; I've performed formal ceremonies with just a handful of guests.  Make your day special - if you want an elegant gown, go for it.

If you love it and want to wear it on your wedding day, wear it.

    Congratulations and best wishes.

  13. Hi and congratulations!

Just because you are having a small guest list doesn't take away from the fact that it IS a wedding....YOUR wedding!  So....by all means, wear the dress you have fallen in love with!!

Good luck and I hope you have a beautiful day.

  14. I had a very small wedding as well...about 50 people.  I wore the gown I wanted .... the size of the party does not dictate how your dress should look and what is or isn't "too much". It's YOUR wedding..so where whatever you feel awesome in and want to be married in...whether there are 30 people or 300 people simply doesn't matter.

  15. My wedding will also have exactly 30 pp and I thought I was set on an informal bridish dress, knee length no less....until I started really looking at dresses.  Now I have the perfect formal dress picked out and am just waiting on my mom to come back from vacation to go try it on!

Really I think you should do what feels right for you be that formal or not...you only get married once
