Question:

Bridal necklace, or not?

If I want to de-emphasize my neck, is it best not to wear a necklace at all? The gown is spaghetti strap with beading at the empire waist and the hair is updo with a couple of flowers or a rhinestone headband (haven't quite decided yet, have both ready). I'm not planning to wear earrings or a veil, so the only "bling" would be the beading on the dress (just below bust) and something in the hair. Thanks for your thoughts.

  1. I'd probably keep looking around for something dainty. There are lots of choices out there. If not then go with something pretty in your hair. I think sometimes that the jewellery makes the gown look complete.

  2. at first thought i would say no on the necklace. with a strapless i would think a necklace would look nice last touch bring it together but because its spaghetti i dont think a necklace would be necessary because the straps, hair do, and beads work together to give it that hmmph. however, sometimes a necklace can help cover up whatever it is you want to hide. you may just try either posting some pics of you with and without a necklace or just ask the jeweler. they're supposed to be experieced so someone at a department store in either the beauty section or jewelry section should be able to better advise because they can actually see the issue.

  3. Honestly, this depends on how low the dress front is and how short your hair is, as well as the reason you want to de-emphasize your neck (double-chin, super long neck).

If you have a naturally long neck with a low dress front and short/updo hair, then it may be better to wear a chunky necklace to break up the line of skin (which would actually make your neck look longer than it is).  If the dress line is higher and/or your hair is shoulder-length or longer (and down), then the necklace will only emphasize your neck.

  4. I would say no necklace, and go with the flowers in the hair.

  5. With a necklace on, it does bring emphasis to that area.

I agree to stay away from that.

Why not earrings ? They can be any size or style and look good on everyone.

    Have fun.

  6. you should at least wear earrings, just some pretty studs of some kind. i agree with skipping the necklace, you could overdo it. but i think really strongly you should at least wear stud earrings, diamonds or pearls, whatever match.

  7. I would say that if your goal is to de-emphasize your neck than don't wear a necklace.  Since your dress has bead work on it the attention will be drawn there. That  combined with your headband/flowers should be all you need. Sounds like you're already set.

  8. Skip the necklace.  Consider a bracelet.
