Bridal shower ideas?

well i have apponinted my life long friend to throw me a bridal shower( i know its not suppose to be that way but i want one and if i dont pay for it myself or ask her to do it noone will)

but i wanted to know some good ideas to do? neither of us have ever been to a bridal shower so what are some games to play and what kind of food should we serve?

I have a great idea its what my cousin did for me it was a hit.

Its  a wine theme if you love wine...

Ask guests to bring a bottle of wine and all the wine goes to you and your groom .

We also had everyone bring a recipe and they put in my recipe box ... Have  green and purple ballons as (grapes) we

had fruit kabobs and it was at my aunts house outside it was beautiful.. cake with strawberries yummy... sandwiches, salad,  They played a game where everyone got a bell around there neck and if anyone said the bride and grooms name they got it taken away.. they gave corks as favors  also..

It was funn and you get a ton of wine for your home that you get to enjoy with friends and family..

do somethign you like for a theme, margaritas, s*x and the city, or just skip the theme.

Have it at a home or a resturant.  

Decorate a bit!

Little favors for the girls like candles or something.

Luncheon foods like salads and sandwiches.  Some apps and a few different drinks

play bridal bingo, make a dress out of toilet paper and who knows the bride to be best.

All the women invited tot eh wedding should be invited tot he shower.

(THEMES)

1.Fiesta Party: Have all the guests wear red & the bride in white or the bride in red & guests in white.  For decor buy some of those red chili pepper lights & string them around the party, then have sun glasses, sombreros, (optional) some cactus plants, put some red & or white table cloths. Food serve Taquitos, enchladas, tacos, chips with salsa, nachos w/ jalapinos. Drinks Pina Coladas, Margaritas, Coronas.

2.Lual Theme: Decor, buy some gold fish (or what ever fish works for you) put them in little glass bowls (they sell them at the 99 cent store) 2 per bowl. They sell these torches at walmart that keep mosquitos away& they have a lual look to them. Put some pineapples & coconuts on & around the food & drink tables. Serve shish-ca-bobs, rice with shrimp in it, crab or fish & fruit salad (pineapples, kiwis & cherries from a jar). Drinks,  Malibu rum, Daquories, Caluas, Captin Morgan Parot Bay.

3.P.J Party: Have everyone come in their nighty's & comffy pjs. Decor, put fluffy pillows on all the chairs around the tables & put pillows in different areas, make a canapy with bed sheets, speratickly put nail filers, nail polish, & those blind folds people sleep with so they won't see the light (sorry don't know what they're called) on the food & drink tabls. Serve pizza, chips ''n'' dip, just any junk foods you would see at a real slumber party. Drinks, spikea punch bowl, jello shots, Seagrems grape Vodka with Welches grape soda.

(GAMES)

1.''Pop the Balloon'': You get everyone into teams of two, one person sits on a chair with a balloon on their lap & when you say go the other person gets on top of them & starts jumping up & down trying to pop the balloon. First one that pops wins!!

2.''Don't say Bride'' As everyone gets to the party you give them a pin & you tell them they can't say the word ''bride'' for the entire bridal shower or someone will take their pin. The person with the most pins at the end wins! Pick a winner after the last game of the night is played.

3.''Pass the Banana'' Everyone gets in a circle & you give one person a banana, when the music starts they start to pass the banana, the trick is they have to pass it with their knees (no hands) & they pass it back in forth until the music stops, the person with the banana loses. It's like hot potato.

4.''Bride & Groom'' You give everyone a paper & pencil & tell them they have 30 sec. to draw a bride & groom as best they can. The papers are collected & given to the bride & she picks the best one. (have everyone write their name on the back)

5.''Wedding dress''You get everyone into teams & you give them a few rolls of toilet paper. They get 1min. to make a wedding dress out of the toilet paper, bride picks best dress.

(PRIZES)

1.Big coffee mugs filled with Hersheys Kisses.

(The Disney Store, Star Bucks have nice ones)

2.Bottle of wine or liquor

There are a lot of great prizes you can buy, try going to Target or Ross in the house wears dept. they have a lot of nice things on sale.

Finger foods - things you could get at costco, and cold drinks.  Many showers now include men and women.  Most food should not need silverware if possible.  Shrimp, chicken, dips with bread or chips, fresh fruit, veggie platters with dip.  ANy foods you might get for another party.

Games - make a survey of things about the bride and groom.  Read the questions out loud and have guests see how well they know the two.  Fun things, how they met, childhood memories.  It is fun to think up the survey.  You could have prizes if want.

You could pass around a memory or wish/advice book for guests to write in and the couple keeps it.

Also opening gifts in front of guest can be nice for all to see and see how much the couple appreciates it.  

Don't plan so much you can't enjoy yourself.
