I am not sure what to write in my thank you's. My fiance and I live to gether and are already using the gifts we recieved. Should I play if off like we aren't using the gifts yet? (traditionally you are supposed to wait until after the wedding to use them). Do you think people will care?

  1. No, people shouldn't care about that! I'd be happy to hear that you loved your coffee maker that I got you and that you use it every morning!! And, if you two already live together, what do they expect? For you to leave it in boxes until after you return from your honeymoon? That's absurd! Send them out girl!

  2. Write a personal note to each person thanking them for sharing your day and for the lovely...whatever they gave you.

It's simple, but get them done quickly.

  3. just thank them for the gift and don t mention you using the gifts.

  4. Dear NAME,

Thank you for not only coming to my bridal shower but for the wonderful NAME OF GIFT. Your thoughtfullness and friendship/love means a lot to FIANCEE'S NAME and I. I will think of you each time i use the NAME OF GIFT

    Thanks again

  5. We also used our gifts before the wedding and noone minded. I just wrote that we loved the item and thank you for coming. Short and sweet.

  6. How about a nice general

"thank you for the thoughtful gift"

  7. no one will care that etiquette says you wait til after the wedding to use it!  that's like someon really caring if you should be wearign a white dress.... they bought you the gifts tehy want to know you enjoy them!  just thank them.

  8. I don't think people will care, but there's no need to tell them that you are already using it. A simple "thank you so much for the blender! We really like it!" would work just fine.

  9. people honestly dont care.........in your thank you notes make sure you address the person and thank them for the specific gift they got you.  That way they know  you remember them and what it was they got you.  If you just simply say thank you, it shows that you have no clue who they are and you have no idea what it was that they got you

  10. My fiance' and I used our gifts right away too, we also live together. I just wrote "dear guest, Thank you for coming to our wedding shower. It was a very nice day. Thank you also for the gift of ..... It will go really nice in our home/kitchen/bathroom....etc." If it was a cash gift i wrote "thank you for the gift of money. It will help out a lot with the wedding."

I don't think that anyone cares if you wait until after the wedding to use the  gifts. I have actually never even heard of that tradition, but I do believe it was true at one time.

  11. Just thank them for the gifts. You don't have to say that you are already using them.

  12. When the people gave you the gifts, they knew your living arrangements.  The gifts were given out of love for the both of you.

Acknowledging their gift and letting them know you appreciate it is what is important but it's cute that your worried about this, shows good manners!

  13. Thank the giver. If the bride is writing the notes, use the groom's name in the note, but sign it with the bride's name. Do not mention the amount of a money or check or gift card present, just say how generous it was. Mention the wedding if you want, say something nice about how great it was  that the person was there. Always tell the giver of cash or one of those spend it anywhere credit cards. what your plans  for the money are , pick something practical, older people like to hear that, they do not want to hear how you are paying off a wedding, or blew it on a honeymoon that you could not afford. And no, you do not have to mention that you have already used it, if it is someone that knows you enough to know that you are living together, they know that that might have happened. I personally would not mention it on the thank you note. .

Dear Aunt Rose and Uncle Pete, Thank you so much for the gift certificate to Macy's! It was so thoughtful and generous of you to do that, now I can go get some things off my registry that I did not recieve as  gifts for the wedding. I really have my heart set on that set of [brand name here] cookware, and so does Jeff. You know he really took those cooking lessons that Grandmother Smith gave us, he is getting so good at cooking Italian food!

Thank you again, so glad you got to come to the wedding! Love, Mary

    Dear Grandma and Grandpa,

Thank you so much for the lovely wedding card and the money inside! It will be put towards a downpayment on a house, Jeff and I are looking at one around the block from Mom and Dad! Count on it that you will both be invited to dinner very soon if we buy the house. And thanks to your so generous gift, we will not be eating off a card table, we will have a real table. We are so sure that the owners will accept our bid, we went furniture shopping! We were so happily tired after the wedding, but not too much to go looking at furniture!

Thank you so much again for the gift, Jeff and I love you both so very much! Mary.
