Discuss it with them.  Ask them to be more specific.  Jewelry is always popular.  A necklace, bracelet or earrings that they can wear for the wedding then has as a reminder afterwards.

Goggle it.  There has to be a list on line of commom or popular bridesmaids gifts.

I was one of the five sisters at my sister's wedding last dec,she got a us all a little black handbag-so we could put our makeup,tissues,money etc in there.Necklaces are another good pressie you could give to your bridesmaids.

For my brides maids I made all of their jewelry for the wedding. Necklace and earrings. I also made each of them a fun pair of flip flops to wear at the reception with the  fun fur yarn. They were like slippers. I wrapped the yard around the plastic part that goes across their feet. They were so cute and comfortable too.

Often brides buy their bridesmaids jewellery to wear on the day, and to keep forever. Another idea is pamper packs or gift hampers.

I'm not a fan of the stuff that says 'best bridesmaid' or stuff like that, simply because i want them to be able to use it again or have it on display. And sometimes, but not always, that stuff can be a bit tacky. There are lots of online stores where you can purchase this kind of stuff, just take some time to look around.

Knot.com has a lot of good bridesmaid presenty type stuff. For my wedding, I got all of them matching necklaces (hey...it was small and low-budget).

Somebody I know got her bridesmaids "Return to Tiffany's" heart charm bracelets from Tiffany & Co. and got them engraved. You could engrave "Best Bridesmaid" on it.

Or if the charm bracelet is too expensive to buy for all of the brides maids (It wouldn't be too bad for a couple of girls, but if you have more than three or four, it would get a bit pricy) you could get them just the heart on a chain (link: http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Item.asp... and it's still nice.
