Question:

Bridesmaid dress/bouquet color combo?

I'm having a very small wedding, with my only attendants being my sister and future sister-in-law. I want them to carry red rose bouquets, but I'm not sure what color dresses I should have them wear. (We're just having family in and at the wedding, and not really doing a color scheme) and I want everyone to have red flowers, but not so sure about the dress colors. What would color for the dresses be? As well as a good website to find some discounted bridesmaid dresses?

  1. How about a simple black dress. Check out stores like JC Penny, Macys and Younkers.

  2. You could try looking for a consignment shop that specializes in weddings.  I know of some places where you can buy used bridesmaid/wedding dresses for a fraction of the price.  As for color, i think anything dark would let the red roses really pop.

  3. Champagne or gold would be pretty. If you really want to do a contrast, try a pretty blue with the red roses.

  4. If your bridesmaids are a 6,8, or 10 these would work for $105

see this for color, it is silver

    black will always work

these could be fun for something different:

  5. Black, red, silver, gold, or navy would look good with red roses.  Depending on their sixes you could order the dresses from e-bay.

  6. Either black or white will really make the roses stand out.  If you only have 2 bridesmaids, I would suggest searching the clearance racks of department stores.  It should be really easy to find some discounted matching dresses.  I found my bridesmaid dresses on clearance at the mall for $30 each!! And they are adorable!  They are black and we are going to a fabric store and make white sashes to tie around their waists.  They look great with the red roses.

  7. Why not let them choose the color?  It isn't as tho it's a high mass with 500 people.  Personally, I'd let them choose the style together, too.  Let them choose something they can wear again to other  events.

  8. I would choose some shade of pink because it goes good with red and is  generally a good  color that goes together (like around Valentines Day.)

  9. Black, navy, light blue (NOT bright blue) or red, maybe ... MAYbe wine-colored, if you can find it before mid autumn. The red is a bold color and you don't want anything clashing, i.e. no bright colored dresses.

  10.   If the wedding is in spring/summer, maybe a brighter color like a pale or dull yellow.  If it's in the fall/winter, I would do a neutral color like champagne (not gold) or silver.  I think either would really make the flowers stand out.

  11. I think a dark color, like black or navy would be the prettiest. I would check www.target.com and look under the Isaac Mizrahi bridesmaid and party dresses. They have some really cute ones really reasonably priced, and they are definitely wearable to other events. Congratulations and good luck!

  12. I would do a darker dress like black or navy so that the flowers really stand out since they are an important factor to you.

  13. Red roses are really generic and go with a variety of colors.  What I would suggest is go find a dress you like, then choose from the available colors.

Dresses in pink, blue, and chocolate family would probably go best, but you can really choose anything!

    Good luck!

  14. Here is a place that has bridesmaids dresses at a discounted price:

For the color dresses you could do red, chocolate brown, navy blue, or even a burnt orange. I would try looking at different pictures of bridesmaids carrying red bouquets and see which you like best. Or, you can always go to David's Bridal and play with their "Dress Your Wedding" program. It helps to visualize it...

    Good luck - and congrats
