What do ya'll think about using 1 single rose for a bouquet for my bridesmaids... it wouldn't be a bouquet but... uh, a replacement i reckon it would be.... Do ya'll think that would look nice still, or what are ya'lls opinion....

The bridesmaids dresses are going to be black with two slits that are white. And my colors are black, white, and lime green. So i was thinking for the flower, i'd use one sinlge lime green rose....

  1. Use a white flower if that is what your plan is.  Lime green for a rose is so unnatural and won't look as nice.

  2. I think that would be fine.

It may look a little better with the single rose and some baby's breath. It is very inexpensive and will make it look a little fuller.

    Good Luck and Congratulations!

  3. I think it would be beautiful and cost effective as well. I think it is a lovely choice but it is your wedding so despite what all of our opinions will be maybe you should discuss it with your BM's and all of you come to a decision you all could agree on and like.. Best wishes to you

  4. i think it would be pretty but what happens if one broke? would you have backups?

  5. I think a single flower might be a little too minimal.  It sounds good in theory, but the bouquet is usually to add color (especially to black & white).  Buy a fake rose and have the bridesmaid hold it while trying her dress on.  What do you think?

  6. I've seen this done before with a single rose, but I don't like it

I love the small bouquet, as a bridesmaid I think it was more comfortable holding down the aisle and looks better in pictures.

  7. I do not like when only one flower is carried.  I, personally, think that it looks uncomfortable and cheap.

  8. Sounds ghetto-fabulous!

Why not experiment with silk flowers.  People are not going to look at the bridesmaids flowers closely and fake flowers are easier to work with and hold up better than real ones.  One of my friends had to have a bud jet wedding.  Her grandma made her dress (which was really pretty) and all the flowers were from Craft Warehouse and arranged by her aunt and cost less than one Bouquet at a florist.  You couldn't even tell they were fake unless you handled them.

  9. That would be pretty. Have them wrap some ribbon around it or put some greenery and baby breaths with it. It would be really pretty. A lady who did my flowers took two colors of ribbon and then she started at the top and tied knots around the stem all the way down. It makes it look more fancy. Congrats.

  10. I am a photographer and I would also agree that just a single rose, which nothing at all really isn't as nice looking as you may think it will be.  If you are concerned of how it will look, it is not the greatest in pictures.

You can do one rose and just dress it up a bit as suggested previously.  Get creative with lace, ribbons, greenery, babies breath, etc.  I also would say I would definetly price lime green roses.  If you can get them, I would assume it is not going to be easy or expensive.  You may even ask if you can get one done to see if you even really like the way it is done.

If you go with the single rose, I would also suggest getting a couple of extras.  Just did a wedding last week where they only used 1 rose and 2 of the girls broke.  The stems had to be taped together and then in the pictures, they had to hold them a little differently than the others because the tape was not holding well at all.

  11. what if you used cheaper flowers like hydrangea's that come in a lime green color, which would add the bulk and save still on cost. I agree its awkward to carry one flower, here is an example.

  12. My cousin had her girls carry a bouquet similar to this http://avalon-fantasy.com/Avalon_Bouquet...  As you can see it's a single blossom but with the greenery and place in an actual holder it was much more elegant than a single rose and like Ashley brought up the gals were much more comfortable going down the aisle. If you've ever been in a weeding you know what I mean - remember how awkward it was at rehearsal with no flowers to carry? It's not much better with only a single flower stem.  To see what we mean, get a single rose and try carrying it in a similar circumstance and 'ya'll' will see.

  13. I dont know.....I like the idea of a calla lily, for example, on its own because they are large and stand alone. A rose though, is small and, although beautiful, it might look a bit alone and scared!! Lol. Also, what if it breaks? Then the bridesmaid would stand out, not holding anything. And remember the prickles! Could be painful for a bridesmaid, unless you have it totally stripped of them and checked out beforehand.

  14. Hi.  Well, I have never seen a single rose, but I guess that would look OK.  Here is a picture of 3 roses with some greens and I have given this idea to many brides "on a budget."  IF you can afford to have 3, I think this one looks elegant.  What brings it a little more elegance I think are the greens and the wide silk ribbon:

Also, have you priced out lime green roses?  That is a most unusual color, so they may be quite expensive!  You might want to go with pink (such as what is pictured) then tied with a green ribbon....or even white tied with a green ribbon.  Just an idea.....
