First of all the amp is a sony Xm 554zr. Its 600 watts and from walmart. It has 4 channels. Here is the website with its features and specifications... http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11258_Sony+XM-554ZR.html#specs Ive got 2 12" 750W max subs that i want to run from it. I hooked them up and they barely hit. I think the problem is that they only have like 55 er 60 watts goin to them. This amp has 2 connector things where i can hook up my speakers - the rear and the front (they both have 4 connector screws (for the speaker wire)). How should/can I hook these subs up to get the most out of my amp?? Thanks

  1. my suggestion: take the amp back!!   If you want your subs to hit you gotta have the power.  When it comes to car electronics you get what you pay for (not knocking Sony, it's good stuff)  But if you're running a pair of 12's with 750W max. (that's 1500 watts combined for the pair) that amp will burn up trying to push those subs.  Just for giggles go to the same site for the specs on the sony and check out the specs on this 200W Kicker 08ZX200.4.  Even though it's a smaller amp it still pushes more power than the 600W Sony.  And really, unless you're gonna be hooking up more than those two subs to it your best bet is a two channel amp that can be bridged.   I personally have always had good luck with Kicker, Alpine, and Rockford Fosgate amps.  For those two subs I would very highly recommend a 2 channel amp in the 800-1000W rms (not max.) range that can be bridged.
