Briggs, Hester and Barber miss Thursday Practice as Chicago prep for Packers – NFL News
The Chicago Bears are travelling to Lambeau Field to take on the mighty Green Bay Packers. A win against their biggest rivals is a must for Chicago yet they have some of their best players missing through injury.
On practice Thursday Coach Lovie Smith had three of his best players missing. Line backer Lance Briggs, wide receiver Devin Hester and much maligned running back Marion Barber all failed to take part in the second practice of the
week.
The Bears Coach however, can count on the return of tight end Kellen Davis and with safety Major Wright also returning from a sprained shoulder the Bears can send out a team capable of putting up some resistance to the mighty Packers.
"We need to get Barber, Lance Briggs and Devin Hester back out there," Bears coach Lovie Smith said. "You know we're going to need every good player we have of course to beat a mighty team like the Packers. We need to get a win
in the worst way."
Wright will not start the game but will be on the bench with Safety’s Craig Steltz and Brandon Meriweather starting on the field.
A win is a must for the Bears. Losing their past four games the franchise has dropped from serious playoffs contenders to a team that is barely hanging on in the race for a wildcard spot. Quarterback Jay Cutler and running back
Matt Forte continue to recover from their respective injuries but will take no further part in the regular season leaving the Bears offense without its two best weapons.
The Packers have their own injury problems with wide receiver Greg Jennings injured but have one player who is prized above all in the National Football League quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers presence and eye for the pass is
unmatched in the league and the Bears defence will face a tough time against the Associated Press’s Player of the Year.
The Bears will look enviously at the roster of their rivals as they have to depend on third choice quarterback and veteran Josh McCown to provide the offensive momentum. This will be McCown’s first start since previously Caleb
Hanie had taken the role but his miserable performances in the previous four weeks left Coach Lovie Smith with no choice but to bench the quarterback.
With major injuries to crucial players across the roster Chicago Bears will have to play a game of their lives to defeat the Green Bay Packers and keep their playoff dreams alive.
