Briggs says he’ll make Klitschko quit
In an interview Wednesday former heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs vowed that he will make WBC champion Vitali Klitschko “quit” when they meet on 16 October in Germany.
Briggs, 38, who defeated the likes of champions like George Foreman and Ray Mercer, hopes to rely on his devastating power to knock out Klitschko, whose last defence was a tenth round technical knockout
of Albert Sosnowski.
Briggs spoke about his training procedures for the bout, saying: “I decided to stay here in Florida and I feel good about my decision.  [...] At this stage of my career I didn't feel the need to be away
in isolation due to distractions. I'm 38 years old and focused.”  With a goofy look Briggs added, “If partying or going out was a thought or issue I'd have to be mentally disturbed. This fight is a chance of a lifetime and I'm taking full advantage of it.”
Briggs awed the world when he knocked out Sergei Liakhovich in the last round of a bout back in 2006 to win the WBO title.  Before the stunning knockout, he was losing on all three scorecards.  The fight
is testament to his unusual power.
He likewise fought Lennox Lewis in 1998, and had him in trouble early on, only to suffer defeat in the fifth round.
Speaking of the future, Briggs said the immediate plans were to beat Vitali Klitschko, and then look to unifying the belts by challenging either David Haye (WBA titlist) or Wladimir Klitschko (WBO/IBF/Ring).
After that he will attempt to beat Tomasz Adamek in what he said would be his “last fight.”
For some, all of that may appear an incredible pipe dream for the once-relevant heavyweight.
Briggs doesn’t mind.
“I will knock him [Klitschko] out or he will quit in his corner on the stool,” Briggs decried.
Briggs argued that though he is older, he is also wiser and healthier, which will give him the edge over 39-year-old Klitschko.  In particular, Briggs said a past breathing ailment has been cured due to
a substance concocted for him by his doctors.
“When I was given thought of making a comeback to the ring over a year ago, I was fortunate to meet Doctor Charles Hensley - the creator of the homeopathic cold remedy Zicam.  After a few conversations
I asked the doctor if was possible to create a remedy that could help me breathe better. I started using it every day that he calls Zivair and it's not only changed my life, but the life of my four year old son who inherited asthma from me.”
