  1. I do not believe that there is a criminal background check involved in the qualification for a Florida Bright Futures Scholarship. I could not find anything in the Florida Statute that created the program, nor could I find anything on the program's official website.

Even if there was such an investigation, it is HIGHLY unlikely that a dropped first offense misdemeanor charge would impact your eligibility.

By the way, did you know you can check your eligibility for the Bright Futures Scholarship online? Visit the FACTS.org website, where you can sign in and check your Bright Futures scholarship eligibility. I've linked to that specific page from the FACTS.org website, below.

I hope this helps you - good luck with school!

  2. As long as you qualify academically you will be fine. This is from the Florida Bright Futures website:

"Not have been found guilty of, or plead nolo contendere to, a felony charge, unless the student has been granted clemency by the Governor and Cabinet sitting as the Executive Office of Clemency."

This is the link to all of the eligibility requirements http://www.floridastudentfinancialaid.or...

    Good luck. :)
