Brilliant Gerald Wallace leads late New Jersey Nets rally for comeback win over Golden State Warriors – NBA Recap
The New Jersey Nets used a late charge to defeat the Golden State Warriors 102 – 100 on Friday, completing a memorable comeback. The Nets were trailing by as many as 19 at one point in the game, but their superb final quarter rally left the Golden State
Warriors, as well as their fans,  shell shocked at the ORACLE Arena.
Gerald Wallace was the man who spearheaded New Jersey’s revival. Wallace was huge down the clutch, both offensively and defensively, playing a big part in the win. Overall, he finished with a massive double-double; 24 points, team high, and 18 rebounds,
game high.  That wasn’t all though, as Wallace also dished out 5 assists and had 6 steals.
After the game however, he only chose to speak about the team and its future.
"The future looks good, if we had everybody healthy," Wallace said. "We have an elite point guard, we have one of the up-and-coming centers ... so our future looks great."
It’s not clear if Wallace be part of that future, as his contract runs out in the summer. The forward said he was yet undecided.
"I'm still trying to figure out everything," he said. "We have a lot of guys who are free agents ... but what we have right here is special and tonight just showed what we can do, what the heart and determination of this team is. (My decision) will come."
Star point guard Deron Williams was also in fine form, he had 9 points and an incredible 20 assists. A chief beneficiary of Williams’ play was power forward Kris Humphries, who finished with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Gerald Green was another who impressed,
coming off the bench for 20 points.
David Lee scored game high 27 points and had 6 rebounds for the Golden State Warriors. Point guard Charles Jenkins notched up a double-double with 18 points and 12 assists. Rookie Klay Thompson netted 14.
Golden State Warriors looked stronger at the start, and were up 11 – 4 early on. Although New Jersey cut down the lead, the Warriors remained on top throughout, ending the first quarter 26 – 22.
A 6 – 0 run early in the 2nd segment put the Warriors up by double digits, 34 – 24. They stretched the lead to 40 – 26, but the Nets cut down the deficit to 51 – 42 by the end of the first half.
Golden State looked even stronger after the interval. They were very effective offensively, piling on 33 points in the third frame. The Nets however also did find some rhythm, scoring 28 points. At the end, the Warriors looked in complete control, 84 – 70.
That though would prove to be insufficient in the final 12 minutes. The Nets set about getting into the lead in earnest with a 7 – 0 run, bringing them to 90 – 83. An 8 – 3 burst then brought them to within a single point, 98 – 97.
Wallace and Williams then set up Green for two consecutive shots that gave New Jersey a memorable win.
