Brine shrimp for FW angel fish

i want to feed my FW angelfish live food -Brine Shrimp- but they are $6 a bag. i tryed groing them but had trouble, any suggestions on growing them, or making the bough ones reproduce? i have spirulina, and shrimp eggs

  1. Keeping  Brine shrimp live is extremely hard for home hobby unless your a breeder. They require as much attention as your tank maintance. I suggest feeder shrimp if you want a steady supply. You can get them from saltwaterfish.com and drop them in sump (this is were I keep mine). When I feed I just get my net and scoupe up a few  (3- 5) every couple of  days and drop in my tank. The fems drop eggs every 7 days (the ones that survive).  They will hide in the rocks and sand. I have a Madarine and a couple fire fish the feed on them. I got some with my last order (back in Jan) and I still have plenty.


  2. for growing them..

    people don't seem to realize they need water in the 80's and the salt cannot be talbe or aquarium salt, it has to be marine salt..

    and brine shrimp only have any nutrition while they are a few hours old.. after that they are just all shell.. the egg yolk is the nutritious part..

    if you can find them live or even frozen blood worms would be much better
