I am bringing my dog from N.Y. for 1-week vacation in Canada. I have a passport to cross over from NY to Canada. Does my dog need veteriary medical records or any other papers?

  1. I don't think so: I'm pretty sure there are issues if you are bringing exotic or endangered species.  I've brought a cat driving from TX to Canada and I had no problem.

  2. I went to ski in vermont for a week and we brought our dog.

they didn't even ask or anything. so we showed nothing.

if they do, then it is best that you have your dogs vaccination records. (proof that your dog was vaccinated against rabies, etc.)

  3. You need proof of vaccination.

  4. Dogs may enter Canada if accompanied by a valid rabies vaccination certificate issued, in either English or French, by a licensed veterinarian, which clearly identifies the dogs and shows that they are currently vaccinated against rabies. This certificate should identify the dog, as in breed, color, weight, etc., plus indicate the name of the licensed rabies vaccine used (trade name), serial number and duration of validity (up to 3 years). Please note if a validity date does not appear on the certificate, then it is considered a one-year vaccine.
