Bring international cricket back to Pakistan, urges Misbah-ul-Haq – Cricket News Update
Pakistan’s Test and One Day International (ODI) skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972, has urged the cricket boards all across the globe to help revive international cricket in the country. The middle-order batsman is of the opinion that the Green Shirts are one of the major cricket teams and it is a huge loss for the game that no foreign teams are visiting Pakistan.
Since 2001, with the start of the on-going war on terror, there have been immense security threats in Pakistan. The situation deteriorated further after an attack on the Sri Lankan team outside the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, in March, 2009.
No international team has visited the country since then, with the Men in Green forced to play all their matches away from home, which is a massive disadvantage.
Most sides would have struggled to compete at the global level without playing in their own country, but this is not the case for Pakistan, who have qualified for the semi-finals of all the major ICC events since then.
Misbah, who is currently playing the President’s Trophy, said that the ICC and the major cricket boards must realize that they cannot take the game forward by ignoring Pakistan. The middle-order batsman wants the world’s governing body to take meaningful steps which can help bring international cricket back to the troubled country.
“It is the responsibility of the cricket boards and their respective governments to come out with policies and ensure how teams can visit Pakistan in the future,” said the Pakistan captain. “We are a big Test-playing country and it is not fair for us as well as for the other Test-playing countries and world cricket that we are not getting to stage international cricket.”
Recently, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World T20 2012, also expressed that Pakistan is a great country for international cricket, with a huge fan following for the sport. He feels that helping Pakistan will be in the long-term interest of the sport.
“We all would like cricket to be played in Pakistan sooner than later. It’s certainly a place I have fond memories of and of the people and cricket played there. I have officiated a lot in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755,” Taufel said.
