Bring on the Judge says Twiston-Davies
Nigel Twiston-Davies will be hoping his son, Sam, can Bring on the Judge home in the Explosiveproductionsltd.Co.Uk Novices' Hurdle at Carlisle.
The seven-year-old has only had two starts under Rules, one coming in a bumper – where he finished fourth, showing greenness – and the second coming in February when he finished second in his hurdling debut.
That was at Chepstow on heavy ground, and with the going heavy today conditions should suit. That step up in trip to and extended three miles should also suit and with the yard in decent form, Bring on The Judge looks the pick in this three-horse race.
The minute he walked in the joint Hey Big Spender looked like a class horse and in the Weatherbys Bank Graduation Chase he’ll have to show it against four other quality horses.
Ignore the last two races where he fell and his form is strong. Two first’s and two seconds show this horse has the ability to be a top-class performer. He likes softer ground and has some form on heavy going over hurdles. He does have to beat the likes of Big Fella Thanks in this race but after still not having reached is potential he could outstay the field.
One to keep an eye on in this race is Hunters Ploy. If his price remains in double figures he’s definitely one to have a punt on. He might be running for the first time this year but in this case it’s a good thing. Consider that he’s won first time out in the last two seasons and he’s said to be in good condition, the Twiston-Davies trained horse could cause an upset here.
Canal Bank could make you some money in the Cubby Construction Handicap Chase if he can overcome a 6lb rise in the weights. He won at Chepstow over three miles last time out, showing a longer trip like today (3m 2f) could actually help him.
The Jonjo O’Neill yard remains in good form and Canal Bank should provide a nice price before the off.
