Bringing cigarettes from Taiwan to Canada?

I'm underaged, will I have any problems if I try to bring back a couple of packs of cigarettes from Taiwan for a friend of mine? At least in Canada it's not illegal for me to actually possess them, but I have to stop over in Los Angeles and Chicago, and I'm not exactly sure what the laws in Taiwan are either.

Yes. If you're searched coming into the country, they will be confiscated, and they may even levy a fine.
