Bringing degree to job interview?

Is it standard in the Canadian health care sector to be asked to bring one's degree to a job interview so that the potential employer may make a copy of it? My professional registration proves that I've got my degree otherwise I wouldn't be registered so I don't understand why I've been asked to bring my degree to the interview. Is this common?

I have had my degree copied (but it was after I was offered the job).  Perhaps they are just being very careful as they have had issues in the past.
