Question:

Bringing food on flight in checked luggage?

My husband and I are flying to Vegas on Thursday and I'm a little concerned about something. Does anyone know if you can pack food in your checked luggage (not your carry on)? I am allergic to gluten (wheat, barley, and rye), and when we were in Vegas in March there was nothing but gluten to eat.

So can you pack any food in your checked luggage? If so are there any regulations on what you can pack?

Man I dont know how I'm going to do this!

Thanks everyone!

  1. Yes you can.  Go to www.tsa.gov for the list of items that cannot be carried at all on a flight.  States have regulations as to the importation of fresh produce, however.

  2. Only one way to go on this ... call your airline!

Make a note of the phone number you call, the person's name who gives you the answer, and the date and time that you spoke to them.

Have that info with you when you check in, just in case the airport officials give you grief!

    Good luck!
