I bought a tea cup poodle yesterday, he's 3 months old and like most puppies he just sleeps.

But my other two dogs (a 5 yr old Pomeranian and a 3 yr old Chihuahua) does not really want anything to do with the new puppy when he wants to play...The pomeranian growls and snaps at him while the chihuahua just looks at him likes he's dumb...how long will it take my other 2 dogs to accept the new puppy? and any advice?

  1. 1st i have a chihuahua! and when i brought him home i have a cat my dog wanted to play with her but she didn't its been 2 years and she still dosn't want to play with him but she plays with other dogs and are you giving the new dog more play time and spending more time with the new dog then you are with the other dogs? so spend more time with all your dogs take them out for walks all together and play with them at the same time and in about a month they will get along fine if not then put them in one  room with toys and food water and a place to pee and pooh for a day and cheak up on them every 30 min and they will be happy to see you and play with them plz vote me as best answer!

  2. Don't leave them alone together until they're used to each other. Keep pup in a crate for awhile while he's in the presence of the other guys. They need to establish their pack dominance; lots of sniffing and growling.

I'd say it'll be two weeks before they're buds.

  3. I'm not sure, the pomeranian could be telling him who is dominant.  If it progresses and or gets worse over a longer period of time, I would separate the pomeranian from the new puppy whenever it growls.  Do this by putting it into a crate that he can look out of and still see the puppy.  If he still growls, move the crate to a different room and ignore him.  When he is calm, he can come back out.  Then, repeat if it happens again.

  4. We have 3 dogs , when we brought home the newest arrival , the 4 yr old dog wasn't pleased to say the least it took him several months b4 he really accepted her. The middle dog (2 yrs ) was a much easier sell but still took some time. Only let the new puppy around them supervised @ least until you  feel they are accepting it. Even then you may not want to leave it around them alone for extended periods of time as dogs sometimes have "pack mentallity" & may harm it. But more than likely w/ time they will accept the new addition. Good luck.
