Brisbane Broncos coach Anthony Griffin employs technology in training sessions
The Brisbane Broncos coach, Anthony Griffin, confirmed on Saturday, December 4, that he will use the latest smart phone technology to conduct his future training sessions.
Griffin feels that his age and unfamiliarity with latest technology will not pull him away from installing a unique technology-based training system for his upcoming sessions. Through this technology all the players will be communicated about the training
session goals and targets before they arrive at the training venue in Red Hill.

While explaining how he will incorporate technology into the training sessions, the 45-year-old Broncos coach said, "The idea is, say if we are playing Melbourne Storm, I will send Josh Hoffman a video clip through the iPad featuring a collection of
Cameron Smith's various kicks and I can send that at night and ask Josh to study it before he arrives at training the next morning. That way when Josh gets to training he knows what Smith's preferred kicking options are already and exactly what the session
will be about. It means there's more time spent on actually training than running through video sessions.”
This way all players will be well prepared before their next training session, which will bolster the level and results. That way more time will be spent on the actual training rather than wasting it on video reviewing. The Brisbane coach also shared
that this is how National Football League (NFL) prepares for their games, which is deemed very effective.
He went on and added that through technology usage, he can actually assign tasks to his players which they would have to get done with before their next training session. He further elaborated that this way he will even write off the need to call his
players, because all he needs to do is to send the assigned video clip to the intended player along with text, which will be achieved easily through iPhones and iPads.
This idea of upgrading their trainings emerged after the Brisbane Lions and Gold Coast Suns Australian Football League (AFL) clubs both attended altitude training and complete sessions in Northern Arizona University's Skydome stadium. The purpose of
the visit was to enhance their training skills, which were falling short according to the latest standards of technology.
The Broncos football operations manager, Andrew Gee, and Griffin toured Denver and Green Bay facilities, where they met clubs' coaching staff, who shared their closely guarded training style and methodologies.

Griffin shared that the way they use technology was truly inspirational but also agreed that there is such a stark difference in the way Information Technology is involved, because either of the sides are operating on a completely different budget.
Their clubs are on an average $250 million dollar which is almost more than ten folds than their meager $20 million budget.
The tight budget at Broncos may limit their usage of technology to the extent it is used by their American cousins but the idea of taking help through advancements in technology will boost their game in many ways.
