Brisbane Broncos wish to emulate success of Australian Football League franchises
The National Rugby League (NRL) club, Brisbane Broncos, wants to emulate the scale of success enjoyed by Australian Football League (AFL) franchises by making itself one of the most widely supported derby clubs in the land down under.
The club is already rated amongst the top three franchises open for the membership in the NRL with the biggest fan base. This is evident through the visual proof in form of live audience at the Brisbane games. Now, the club’s management is thinking a step
ahead. They wish to convert their wide fan base into permanent membership, which will help the club cement their roots as strongly in Australia as is registered by the AFL club, who apparently by far dominate the world of the football.
While discussing the strategies developed and adopted by the Brisbane for the upcoming year, in hopes of beating out AFL’s membership toll, Broncos CEO Paul White said, “Internally we are developing targets for this year and beyond this year. We will have
a deliberate strategy in terms of how we prosecute that. In terms of the overall aims and objectives of the club, aside from continuing on-field success, there is a real drive to increase our membership base and to look for increases that are more than just
incremental.”
It appears that this is too huge a target to accomplish, because AFL club are currently reaching up to 40,000 members. However, it is definitely not impossible to achieve given that Brisbane is already observing a positive trend of increasing its membership
toll year after year.
For 2012, Broncos were ambitioning to hit the 12,000 members’ mark, which luckily was achieved well before Christmas break. They were already boasting a total of 16,138 members, which had soared up their hopes a lot more. Now, they wish to check in the 2012
season with a revised benchmark of 20,000 members at least.
It is expected that the mentioned count will be easily achieved because usually after Christmas the members’ tally is increased, when clubs are focusing hard on the learning the most out of their last year’s lost games in an attempt to improve on their performance
in next year’s games.
