Brisbane Heat disappointed after losing Steyn to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cape-Cobras-c776’ objection – Cricket News Update
After signing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DW-Steyn-c1409, the South African fast bowler, six weeks earlier for a single fixture against Hobart Hurricanes, scheduled for the coming Sunday, Brisbane Heat were left disappointed after Cape Cobras objected to Steyn’s inclusion.
The South African side wants the fiery pacer to play a domestic semi final clash on the same date. Already hampered by Kiwi all-rounder Daniel Vettori’s ouster due to injuries, Brisbane Heat is left stranded only four days away from their opening encounter.
“We conducted all of our negotiations with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dale-c52110 and his management in good faith and fulfilled all requirements that the BBL needed in order to sign him as one of our international players. We provided signed contracts, a NOC that was provided six weeks
ago by Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 and were completely up front in what we proposed,” shared Andrew Blucher, the Heat general manager.
He went on to reveal that Dale Steyn was not happy either, and was rather embarrassed with this decision, alongside his manager. The pacer was eager to feature for Brisbane Heat and has a good rapport with the side’s coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Darren-Scott-Lehmann-c52487.
Steyn’s immaculate show against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in the final Test at Perth, where he helped his side secure a massive win to nail the 3 match series 1-0, may have pushed Cape Cobras to try and secure him for their domestic commitments.
“We regret having to withdraw the NOC. We are not in a position to determine which teams will be involved in the final play-off matches at the end of the competition. Players and their agents also have a duty to consult with the home franchise in this regard,”
said Jacques Faul, the CSA Chief Executive.
He also conveyed his sincerest apologies to Brisbane Heat, realising that issuing the NOC in the first place was a mistake.
The Brisbane Heat coach, Lehmann, believes there is not much that can be done with only a couple of days remaining in the game, and a suitable replacement needs to be found in time.
