Brisbane Roar and Gold Coast United play a thrilling draw
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Glen-Moss-c15051, the Gold Coast United goalkeeper, put in a heroic performance as the visitors held Brisbane Roar, away from home, to a 2-2 draw in an action-packed match.
Moss made more than 6 crucial saves that gave the visiting side a point in a very difficult game.
Gold Coast United still have not lost to Brisbane Roar in their last 5 encounters, but the home side has now extended an A-League record of 18 games unbeaten.
Moss turned out to be the difference between the two sides and saved his side blushes, as the score line could have been more than just a riot in Brisbane’s’ favour. The shot-stopper denied Kosta Barbarouses, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Matt-McKay-c24774, and Thomas
Broich once and then denied Jean Solórzano twice including a save in the 89th
minute that would surely have given the hosts 3 points.
The score could easily have been 6-2 for the home team had Moss not been able to put on such a huge performance.
Brisbane dominated the proceedings, but the visitors took the lead in the 14th minute as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adama-Traore-c3574. Nonetheless, Brisbane replied 16 minutes later in the 30th minute
of the first period as Barbarouses scored.
However, once again, United scored 10 minutes into the 2nd half through Robson Alves da Silva whose shot went between the legs of Roar’s keeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Theoklitos-c25385.
Yet, more drama was to unfold when United veteran, John Curtis brought down Barbarouses in the penalty area. Solórzano stepped up to take the penalty kick that was almost saved by man-of-the-show, Moss.
Brisbane Roar, in search of a winner, dominated the last ten minutes of the game but Moss was in great form and he superbly defied the Brisbane Roar forwards again and again.
The torrential rain in Brisbane throughout the 90 minutes of the match made things even more difficult for players and officials alike. In the 82nd minute, the game was stopped so that the ground staff could re-mark
the penalty box as the rain had washed out the lines.
Brisbane Roar coach, Ange Postecoglou was all-praises for Gold Coast United keeper Moss and was still happy that his side was able to create many chances under severe conditions.
The result does not affect Brisbane’s standing at the top of the A-League and after 22 games, the side is leading the table with 45 points and is far away from 2nd placed, CC Mariners who are on 37 points.
Gold Coast United are currently in 4th place with 35 points from 20 games and have a chance to move up to 2nd place.
