Brisbane bar or nightclub where you can actually talk to (and hear) other people?

My friend R had a great time in Paris at a club two months ago, where she could actually hear people talk over the music. She

asked her beauty salon therapist if there was a bar like that in Brisbane. The girl suggested Alhambra. We went there last weekend and I realised it wasn't the sort of place she wanted when we had to yell directly into the bartender's (and other people's) ears. Any ideas?

try the normanby-great atmosphere and you can actuclly hear people-sometimes downstairs is loud but upsatirs is great for that type of thing

Have you been to garuvas? it is a restaurant but they have a groovy cocktail lounge. Its on Wickham street, no street numbers and no signage at the front. There are double doors that you enter a long corridoor filled with plants and lights, its absolutely amazing!
