It would be too hot for me if I'm from UK? How is the rest of the year? If someone went there from UK, how long did it took to get used with it?

  1. I moved from Southern Werstern Australia to Brisbane, It gets pretty cold there. Summer it gets pretty bad sometimes, but only for a couple of weeks, and its more or a humid heat rather than a dry one, but the rest of the year its pretty much really nice weather, the winters arent that cold though/

  2. Anywhere you move in Australia will be a problem in summer our notorious colder states are having 40 degree weather in autumn ( Melbourne and Adelaide). Just think of the beaches in Brisbane and gold coast.....

  3. I find Brisbane too humid in summer and I couldn't live there, but some people love it.  It varies from person to person.  Make sure your car, home and work have good airconditioning and you should be fine.

  4. the best time to visit Brisbane is June, July and August it is lovely up there then , temperatures are in the 20,s during the day and down to about 14 , 16 at night. that is when i go up to visit my son and family that live there, to get away from the cold and wet of Western Australia

  5. It takes about 3 months to get climatised. No one really loves the big heat like well into the 30s but we are geared up for it and if you live close to the sea there is more often than not a lovely sea breeze. I have lived in England and experienced minus 17 and I have no wish to spend my life huddled around a heating system with layers of clothes on. You will find here most places have airconditioning . the cars , the shopping centres the offices. The worst of the heat is dec to Feb but this year has been lovely. when the temperatures are in the high 20s [celcius] it doesn't take long to get used to that. Cotton clothing is the best .

  6. I am from the UK and now live in Brisbane.

I don't find he heat that bad now. But i have been living here for over 10 years. I took me about 2 years to acclimatise to the heat i think, but from living in South Australia and moving up to QLD i noticed the Humidity is really bad. It can be 30 degrees but you would be sweating like its 45. But you get used to it!

The main thing you will have to get used to is having Christmas in the middle of summer, instead of in he depths of a freezing cold winter.

  7. Some people that move from UK get used to the weather and temperature pretty quickly, and enjoy the climate, and as Jade said, you can wear "summer clothes" all year round. I was born here, but a teacher at school moved to Brisbane from the UK, as her other option, Melbourne, was "too much like England." Then again, she had been back packing previously and was fairly used to different sorts of climates and temperatures.

Of course, the other side of the coin is the high temperatures and humidity during the summer months. I understand that some elderly people may suffer heat stroke in Britain in the mid 20 degrees C range - Brisbane often reaches the high 30s and even the 40s at least once each summer.

  8. I live in Brisbane, I moved up from Melbourne.  Summer is extremely hot (this year excluded, we didn't have much of a summer).  There are heaps of english people here and they love the climate. Brisbane is a beautiful place to live weather wise, and it does not get that cold here.  It's really only cold for around 8 weeks through June, July and August.  I love being able to wear summer clothing most of the year.  I have friends from the UK, didn't take them long too get used to it.  If you love miserable, grey, drizzly cold days, stay in UK or move to Melbourne.  If you want to live in a warmer climate where the sun rises in summer at 4am, move to Brisbane.
