why are people saying that brisbane vs collingwood in 08 is the first friday night match in brisbane since 01, they played st kilda round 2 this season on a friday night at the gabba

I agree with deedubya, that round two match at the Gabba was on Maundy Thursday.

I was at that last Gabba Friday night game, in the rain vs. Hawthorn. Bradshaw's goal kicking made the Hawk back line look bad that night.

AFL Travel gave me a free pass to the Brisbane Social Club, ate a free meal there in between the reserves and the seniors. Not bad for a Yank from Kansas, first time in Queensland, my fourth trip to Oz for the footy in 2001.

The game the Lions played against St Kilda in round 2 was a Thursday night not a Friday night.  The last game they played on a Friday night at the Gabba was in 2001 against Hawthorn, can't remember what round it was or the exact date.

Um ..sorry ..you may have to go do a re check on ya stats and facts.   Brisbane - St-Kilda .was in fact a "THURSDAY" night April 5 before GOOD FRIDAY!   They played the previous season also on a Thursday, R3 April 13.   The people you refer too, still might be right?
