  1. It says British on my passport, but I like to say that I am English. I have nothing against Scots, Welsh or Irish; it just feel more English than British. It's a rather irrational thing.

    I don't show passport officials my passport, I slap them aside with it and say "you don't need to look at it, it's British that's all you need to know."

    If a person is born in Scotland or Northern Ireland or Wales they should be differentiated as much as anywhere else in the Commonwealth is.

    There are different national sports squads so why shouldn't we claim our Englishness.

I am a Scot, and would be insulted to be called English.  I live in the Highlands of Scotland and am very proud of my country and its traditions.  Going abroad I tell people I am Scottish and not English and every time without fail they welcome it, but not the English, I love my Irish cousins as well  - very similar.  Great people but not regarded as English.

  22. English. 'British' is the term for anyone living in the British colonies. My ancestors have been born in England for at least 10 generations, so I am English.
