Brita filter question

I changed my the filter in my brita water pitcher a few weeks ago, but I keep finding the little black carbon specks in the bottom of my water glass. Is it bad to drink the water?

I did soak the thing for 15 minutes before using it, and I did run through a couple gallons before actually drinking.

  1. try a new filter, and let it soak for longer

  2. You just need to buy a new filter. They don't last as long as they say they will.

  3. yeah I get that too, it just means you need a new filter.

  4. Filters are notoriously unreliable unless you know which one to get. If you need to get clean water, distill it in a large pot to air out the chlorine and let the particles settle after a few hours.

  5. No it is not bad to drink it. but maybe you should change it.
