British Champion jockey title heading Paul Hanagan’s way
Now the jockey’s championship is taking an apparent decisive turn with Paul Hanagan leading the nominations and the fact that he is already in a stronger position than his rival Silvestre De Sousa by seven additional wins. However, even the second in competition,
Silvestre De Sousa is not in a mood of giving up without a fight.
The reason for Paul Hanagan enjoying the lead is due to the fact that Silvestre De Sousa missed the races scheduled for Monday 24th October, due to the suspension imposed on him and on Tuesday 25th October, he was away for the Melbourne
Cup where he was riding Fox Hunt. He has missed the British racing tracks for three days.
The following day at Kempton on 26th October and 27th October, both the jockeys were able to post one win in each of their records. On 28th October, Silvestre De Sousa won the Racing UK Handicap at Newmarket while riding
Gulf Of Naples. The next day he was able to gain a victory at Newmarket again in Home Of Racing Handicap.
2nd November saw the second in line, De Sousa winning the Betdaq Mobile Apps Floodlit Stakes at Kempton. Yesterday, 3rd November was at Southwell, where he won the Breeders cup Maiden Stakes.
On 2nd November, the EBF Maiden Stakes at Kempton were won by Paul Hanagan while riding Intuition and it turned out to be Hanagan’s 164th winner of this season. Even though there are just two more days to wait for, even then the racing
fans have already convinced their minds about Hanagan being the Champion jockey.
“There is absolutely no point in resting now. I have come this far and I’ll keep going to the end”, Paul Hanagan said this when he was about to mount his ride first of his eleven rides at Nottingham and Kempton.
He is putting in all the possible effort for being the first northerner to win the Champion Jockey title which was last won by the rider Steve Donoghue. The main competitor, De Sousa has been reported to have missed six of his rides at Nottingham after being
delayed on the return flight.
“When I saw he was missing two days, I thought that he might have sacrificed his chance to challenge me”, said Paul Hanagan.
Both will be busy on Friday 4th November, Paul with seven rides and De Sousa to mount 14 rides.
