Question:

British Citizenship from the United States?

I asked a question like this a few weeks ago, but the answers I got didn't answer much. So, on with the facts:

- Grandmother was a UK citizen

- Mom born in Alaska (1969) but never registered with the UK as a citizen ("citizen by descent"?)

- I want to be a UK citizen (currently a US citizen)

Is it in any way do-able?

  1. You can't get British citizenship that way.

Being that your mother is a British citizen by descent, she cannot pass that citizenship down to her children.

If she had been born in the UK to one or more British parents then you would have been eligible for British citizenship by descent.
