THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL QUESTION

I know about the legal differences between the US Constitution and the Constitution of the UK.

I also know about The American Dream, its historical background and ideology.

I can use search engines, I can! :P

But,

I want to depict The British Dream on a flag in a fun and/or thought provoking way, maybe mildly political.

The only thing I can think of is a cup of tea on a saucer with a biscuit, signifying the mentality 'a cup of tea and a sit down solves everything'.

Is there such a thing as a British Dream?

How do the British pursue and live a British Dream?

Do the British not care about clarifying this and just pursue similar goals as the American Dream?

The people living under this flag will be from England, Wales, Scotland, N.Ireland, Éire, USA, Australia, New Zealand and many other countries. So please do not suggest anything with reference to devolution as all my friends are happy to play at being British.

  1. of course there is the magna carta and all that but as a reference how about a rain cloud on the union jack to show our stoicism and REALLY bad weather

  2. Have you ever seen any of the Singh sisters paintings? They depict many things British in a quirky way. I agree that your 'cup of tea' idea is a good one. If nothing else, the British are generally tolerant, and a cup of tea does express this attitude. I suppose the British dream is a national one. We would love to win the World Cup, or Wimbledon, or even the Eurovision song contest; all events that can be enjoyed whilst drinking our cup of tea...

  3. An African swimming back to Africa with a Romanian under each arm. Ha ha, just joking. I got that joke from an American when he was talking about the American dream but he used different nationalities.

  4. How about a telephone box, the old type, with a british bulldog sitting inside drinking tea.

  5. there is no british dream....

because british dont care about britain, we're not flag worshipers, we dont like our government.. ever, no one is patriotic here.

btw the whole tea thing is steriotyping.
