The idea of moving to NZ is, understandably appealing. It is a remarkably beautiful country. But I would be interested to know of any pitfalls you may have come across. Things that you weren't prepared for that perhaps tainted the experience.

I don't want to view the idea of emigrating with rose tinted specticals, I need to know the downsides too, if there are any.

Thanks for your help.

  1. I came here from Britain in 1968 and apart from a few years travelling overseas I've lived here (NZ) ever since.  The only downsides for me are the national obsession with sport, the lousy taste in music (Split Enz and Crowded House are NZ bands and Nature was voted the best NZ song ever written, and the Pedlars, arguably the worst band in British recording history, used to go on tour here because nobody in Britain or any countries closer to home wanted to listen to them).  The best aspects of life here?  Low population and all the good things that go with it, like affordable property, cheap fishing and clean air and water.
