  1. My first thoughts were Bangers and Mash or Fish & Chips or Bubbles and Squeak.

  2. Contrary to popular, American belief, British does NOT mean English... but I am assuming you are referring to English, in which case: Fish & Chips, Roast Beef Dinner, Chicken Tika, Donner Kebabs, Oatcakes, Lamb Chops, Big Macs, Fish Pie, Bacon n Eggs, Curry, Apples, Chicken Chow Mein, Beans on toast, Sausage n Mash, Rhubarb Crumble, Crispy Duck, Fried Chicken, Steak n Chips, Scampi, Pork Chops, Chocolate, Spare ribs, Chip butties, Soup, Lancashire Hot Pot, Jellied Eels, Smoked Salmon, Gammon New Pototoes and Parsley Sauce, Liver Pate on toast, Steak & Kidney Pie, Beef Sandwich, Salad, Apple Pie, Bananas And Custard, Melon, Spag Bog, Garlic Bread, Baked potatoes n cheese, Pizza, Grapes, Prawn Cocktail, Corn Flakes, Nuts.

There's also Italian places, Mexican... etc. People also cook Italian and Mexican.. Chinese, Japanese... anything, really.

  3. To define typical you would have to look at regional dishes.

    London.....jellied eels

    Yorkshire..puddings

    Lancashire hotpot

    Cornwall ..pasties

    Scotland...haggis

    Wales......rarebit

    Ireland.....stew

    Durham...pease pudding

I could go on with cakes desserts puddings etc.

My favourite as a kid was having pork pie and mushy peas at the local market place every Saturday.

    Ex Yorkie living in NZ.

  4. The biggest selling dish is 'Chicken Tikka Marsala', which is chicken fillet that has been marinaded in spices and yoghourt overnight before being grilled and then smothered in a masala sauce, which is a delicious, tomatoey, heavily spiced sauce that goes superbly with the chicken. Second most popular dish is 'Fish 'n' Chips', which is a fillet of Cod or Hake, dipped in a batter of eggs, flour, salt (and sometimes beer or lemon juice too) and deep-fried, together with a good portion of chips (thickly-cut potato wedges/slices, cooked twice at hotter temperatures respectively until light and fluffy on the inside and crisp and golden on the outside.

  5. It's gotta be fish and chips with mushy peas, followed by curry take-away (yes, curry). The brits love their curry and fish & chips and you can't walk 10 feet without coming across a chip shop.
