British GP 2010 News: Force India looking forward to Silverstone weekend

Force India seems to be satisfied with the way the season has unfolded for them. Team boss Vijay Mallya is satisfied with the team’s performance throughout 2010 as the Formula One calendar reaches its next destination; the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. It is a very important race for Force India as they have their headquarters and factories stationed in England. As a result, the team is calling the British GP as their home race.

Vijay Mallya, at the end of the season claimed that the team is happy as they had been able to achieve or at least come closer to their set targets. As the other half of the season is still at their disposal, Force India wants to improve their standings even further. Mallya, the team principal, is one of the richest men in India and stands amongst the top thousand richest men of the world. He has his business ventures ranging from alcoholic beverages to life sciences, from engineering to agriculture and from chemicals to information technology. He also owns one of the most successful domestic airlines of India under the Kingfisher banner.

Mallya at the start of the season explained that the progress made by the team towards the end of 2009 has not only made him happy but has also added to his optimism for the team’s future. As the team entered into this season, they put forward the target of becoming regular contenders on the points table with a goal of keeping at least one of their cars in the top ten slots. The team has been somehow able to get what they wanted and now they are trying to improve consistently.

At present, the two drivers of the team, Adrian Sutil and Vitantonio Liuzzi have been able to stand at the tenth and twelfth places respectively with thirty one and twelve points for both drivers. The team stands at the sixth place in the Constructors’ standings with a total of forty three points in the 2010 season.

Before heading towards the Silverstone Circuit, Mallya expressed his views about the upcoming race by explaining that their main objective of the 2010 season was to regularly score points. More or less, the team has been able to meet that objective. He added that the later races of the season at the Spa and Monza tracks are expected to suit their car better and the team would try their best to get a podium finish.

The Silverstone weekend is always a huge event for everybody involved with Formula One racing where every team wants to do well. Like many other teams that have their factories or main offices in England, Force India is calling the British GP as their home race as well and are excited about the involvement of their factory workers as they hope to see the entire team enjoying the race on this weekend.

Both Adrian Sutil and Vitantonio Liuzzi are determined to pick up some more points as Liuzzi expressed that he was hopeful about the improvements that have been made for the race in the VJM03. He thought that it would allow the drivers to give a better competition to their rivals.

The mystery of the Silverstone race would start unwrapping with the qualifying session on Friday and finally at the grand race on Sunday. For Force India, 2010 marks a very important year as they plan to take Formula One to India next year. If the team does well in this season, the excitement and thrill of the Indians for this sport is expected to increase.
