British GP 2010 News: Mark Webber ready to rule at Silverstone Circuit
The Red Bull driver Mark Webber is all ready and vigorous to enter the next race of the Formula One calendar on this Sunday at Silverstone. Webber, who has had a very dramatic accident two weeks back, believes that he is fit and looking forwards to a great racing spectacle at the British Grand Prix 2010 which is the tenth race of the season.
The Australian racer claimed that his crash in the European Grand Prix was no doubt one of the worst that he has had in his entire career. However, Webber added that when one is in a sport so dangerous and hazardous, one needs to be prepared for such incidents at all times. The driver further added that he is happy for the fact that the accident was not unable to affect his courage or spirit at all. Webber claimed that was confident and very optimistic for the British GP 2010 on this weekend.
Webber had a very bad crash with Heikki Kovalainen of Lotus last month at the Valencia Circuit, in Spain, during the European Grand Prix due to which he had to retire from the race. After he was hit by the Lotus man, his car performed a complete somersault in the air and hit the tyre wall of the track. It was nothing less than a miracle as the driver emerged out of the car in one piece and unhurt. However, the other Red Bull man, Sebastian Vettel ended that race at first place. Due to the accident, Webber lost his third place in the race to his team mate in the Drivers’ Standing of the season so far.
After the troubling time that Webber has had in Spain and previously in Turkey as well, where both the teammates knocked into each other, Webber claimed that the incident had only added to his experience and he has learnt some good lessons from both the crashes.
Webber seems very optimistic and glad as he enters the Silverstone circuit. The chassis that he would use in the British GP was newly built for him in the past two weeks after his car got damaged in last month’s crash. Weber claimed that his previous car proved very lucky for him not only because he had been able to win two races with it but also because it had saved him from many serious injuries in both the crashes.
The 34-year-old told the media that the upcoming race is going to showcase the toughest competitions of the year as both the leading teams; McLaren and Red Bull are going to give their best shot. The season is becoming more and more crucial and exciting with every passing race. This race is expected to be one of the most nail biting one for the season as all four major players of the season are in full form. Both the McLaren men as well as the Red Bull men have so far been able to win two races each.
Webber after the two race wins of this season stands at the forth place in the Drivers’ Standings. He had been able to bag a total of one hundred and thirteen points so far, while his Red Bull team stands at the second place in the drivers’ standing with a total of two hundred and eighteen points. This race at Silverstone means a lot to him as he hopes to jump back to the top slot
