  1. Seems Phil fell in lucky then, crafty bugger knew where his bread was buttered

  2. Philip WAS given the title of Prince Consort! It's the title that a spouse of a reigning queen of the United Kingdom can bear. In the United Kingdom when there is a reigning queen, there can be no one with a title higher than her's so the title of king can not be used, thus,we have a prince consort.Philip became Prince Consort on the day his wife became Queen.

Philip is also of royal birth;he is from the Danish Royal House of Schlesweig-

    Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksburg.

His family was also serving as the monarchy in Greece. Philip is also a third cousin to his wife(through Queen Alexandra). He became a naturalized British citizen and adopted his English family's name of Mountbatten(originally Battenberg).

  3. It would weigh him down; he is stooped enough with baubles.

  4. while the husband of a queen who is not king is called the prince consort, it isn't an title, never has been. He is the Price of the Hellenes and Prince of Denmark in his own right. His titles are

    Prince of the United Kingdom ( 22 February 1957 - present )

    Duke of Edinburgh ( 20 November 1947 - present )

    Earl of Merioneth ( 20 November 1947 - present )

    Baron Greenwich ( 20 November 1947 - present )

  5. WHO CARES???

  6. He wasn't made Prince Consort on his marriage, when all his other titles were awarded, because Elizabeth wasn't Queen then, and he is an independant critter, maybe he likes his other titles better because he doesn't depend on Elizabeth being Queen to hold them.

Technically speaking, she became Duchess of Edinburgh, Countess of Merioneth and Baroness Greenwich on her marriage, and she still is.

  7. Because he wasn't Royalty, he gave up all his rites to other European thrones (Greece Denmark etc.) before marrying the Queen. the last and only Prince Consort Prince Albert was German royalty.
