NATIONAL ANTHEM LYRICS e.g

1. God save our gracious Queen

Long live our noble Queen

God save the Queen

Send her victorious

Happy and glorious

Long to reign over us

God save the Queen ........

Blah blah blah

3. Thy choicest gifts in store

On her be pleased to pour

Long may she reign

May she defend our laws

And ever give us cause

To sing with heart and voice

God save the Queen......... Blah blah blah

  1. Its a figure of speech. Without the Queen there would be no nation, so if we save the Queen (or King, whoever is on the throne) then the nation is saved.

  2. Hello.....The Sovereign (Queen or future King) is the embodiment of the Nation.

So as you sing -- you are asking God to "send her victories, happy and glorious; scatter her enemies, and upon her pour all Thy choicest gifts in store, and finally may she defend our laws -- Are you not simply asking for all these things for yourself and the rest of the country?

I'm a Yank - and we're singing to a d**n flag -- at least your embodiment of country is a living being.

  3. If the reigning monarch is a woman, then it's "God save the Queen." If the monarch is a man then "God save the King" is the choice.  The appropriate pronouns would also be appropriately adjusted.

As you know, the present British monarch is a woman - "God save the Queen".

  4. The national anthem should be 'Land Of Hope And Glory' as that's a much better song and not just about the Queen lol =]

  5. Whom would you like to include?  When there's a king on the throne, it's "God Save the King".  The citizens are on their own.

  6. If you actually look at the full version of the national anthem of the UK (and royal anthem of some commonwealth realms) actually includes a line "God save us all"

  7. Firstly in the Blah Blah Blah you have missed out the best verse;

    Lord, grant that Marshal Wade,

    May by thy mighty aid,

    Victory bring.

May he sedition hush and like a torrent rush,

    Rebellious Scots to crush,

    God save the Queen.

The Queen is what ties Britain together, that is why we have God Save The Queen as the national anthem.

All of the country's in the UK have a national anthem as well as the monarchs anthem except for England, so perhaps England should get a National anthem.
