Im British but moved to New Zealand when I was ten, in a few months im going back to England to work for a few months, (Im 17).

I need a NI number and want to get it all sorted out as quickly as possible, i dont know how to get started, could anyone give me some help or pointers?

And would it be easier to sort it out once i get there or should i get it done before i arrive? Will I get a temporary NI number if i find work first?

Thanks in advance.

  1. You can only sort it out when you get here as you have to attend the Job Centre for an interview and produce certain documents. When you arrive, make an appointment at your nearest office. Until you get the number, your employer will use your date of birth as a temporary number.
