  1. Well they are the same.. but I'd prefer to call it as the British Open.. to distinquish it from the U.S. Open but People in UK call it as the Open..

    Then if people say which open? I would say The British Open

  3. Im british and call it the british open to distinguish between  other open championships.I call the us open the us open as well.

  4. Americans call it the British Open, because we think our Open is on a par with theirs. But, to the rest of the planet, theirs is called The Open Championship because they have played theirs for a lot longer and when theirs was founded, it was the only one in the world. To many, it still is. Most golfers from all over the world, including many Americans, consider the Open Championship the most important title in the world because of its truly international flavor and field. To win that title requires beating the best from around the world.

  5. To me it's The Open, so by extension, I suppose it's the latter
