British Prime Minister David Cameron delighted by England’s Ashes triumph
British Prime Minister David Cameron is delighted by England’s magnificent win over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in the fourth Test match of the Ashes series in Melbourne, which has won England the urn for the second time in a row.
“I think the guys have given everyone at home something to celebrate this Christmas,” said Cameron outside his home in Oxfordshire. “I got up one morning to watch and last night went to bed with my BlackBerry so I could keep up
on the score. I look forward to welcoming the [players] to No. 10 Downing Street when they get back.”
The England team have made their country proud by becoming the first English side in 24 years to defeat the Australians in an Ashes series in Australia.
When Cameron was asked if he had any sympathy for the Australians, he jokingly said, “No, none. We have had so many defeats over the years from great Australian sides, and it is wonderful to see Shane Warne in a commentary box
rather than on the pitch.”
“I take back what I said,” he then added. “Sympathy to the Australians. But it doesn't get any better than beating the Australians at home.”
There is still one more match left in the series, the fifth Ashes Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground. But even if the hosts win that game and level the series, England will still retain the urn.
Nevertheless, England’s captain Andrew Strauss has said that he would like to win the last match of the series.
“It is very reassuring to know that the Ashes are going to remain in England for another couple of years but it would leave a very sour taste in the mouth if we weren't able to go on and convert our position into a series win in
Sydney,” said Strauss.
Coach Andy Flower has also said that England will be playing to win at the final match in Sydney. It would seem that England are in no mood to let Australia regain any lost pride when the final Test begins on January 3.
